The AT100 is a small, portable, ultrasonic transmitter that is designed to aid field research. It employs a wide bandwidth ultrasonic element along with an efficient wideband amplifier to produce an impressive 100dB SPL transmit capability in a small, light-weight package.
The AT100 is designed to be operated by a Windows based lap-top computer (this can even be a repurposed Windows XP machine). It connects a lap-top through a high speed USB 2.0 interface. The bundled GTools playback software allows the user to select between prerecorded files and play them back through the ultrasonic transmitter. The software supports the industry standard WAV file format and works with files generated by SPECT’R as well as others. There are flexible options to create playlists with custom time delays between playbacks, and even an option to turn the transmitter in to an acoustic deterrent.
The AT100 ultrasonic transmitter is designed for low power operation. The unit itself requires only 2 Watts of power and it is capable of operating off of power supplied through the USB interface. Optionally, the AT100 can accept powered from an external 9 to 12 Volt source or battery pack.
One of the potential applications is bat calling. It is well known by bat researchers that bats will come to investigate and aid other bats which are in distress. Bat netting projects are more productive after catching a few bats because the distress calls, of those caught, attract even more bats. Playing back distress calls or certain social calls has the potential to increase bat activity and increase the productivity of your netting projects and field surveys. Similarly, using Jammr software also included, the device can be used as a low power bat deterrent.

Hello, With the BAT AT100 lure, can you tell me more about the way you typically set up the laptop and the weatherproofing? I am trying to figure out how long we could set these lures out for on a given night. Thank you!
Hello Joy- The AT100 can be run by a very old PC.. think small Windows XP netbook. Set Windows to never sleep, and to keep running with the lid closed. You can add a large 50000 mAh lith-ion battery which will run a Surface Pro, for example, for a couple of days. These items fit in a metal locking ammo box such as https://batmanagement.com/collections/deployment-supplies/products/acoustic-deployment-case and simply cut out a notch for the cable. I would leave the box standing on end with the notch on the bottom to minimize water intrusion, hang it on a tree if in a potential wet area. Set the speaker as you would a bat detector microphone, horizontal if worried about rain. You would also want to wrap the rear of the speaker to shield the USB port from water. Neither the AT100 or the BatLure is intended to be weatherproof, but the AT100 is probably more weatherproof.
If you're not really leaving the site area, some put everything (and more) in a pelican case and just leave the lid ajar for the cable. This would keep dew and a light rain off the computer. Thanks- JC -
