What states does sales tax apply?
If you live in PA, you will be charged sales tax according to your state’s sales tax rules. Tax Exempt Businesses/Organizations in PA only: contact us to place your order (717-241-2228). Please have your tax exempt number.
What can I return?
You may return new, unopened items sold within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. Shirts, hats, and mugs are made to order and are not returnable.
When will I get my refund?
Most refunds are fully refunded in 3-5 business days after we receive and process your return.
Does BCM do replacements?
We can only replace the exact item and version you ordered, and you are responsible to return the damaged item within 30 days. If you want to exchange for a different item, you will need to return the item and place a new order.
Pettersson D500x and M500 Bat Detectors Return and Exchange Policy
All detectors are tested by BCM staff before shipping to customers. Please contact BCM first detailing the issue you are having with the hardware and obtain a Return Authorization. Should email or phone troubleshooting fail to resolve the issue, you should send the unit in suitable packaging to BCM, with the RA number written on the packaging.
BCM will confirm the unit is defective was not abused or water damaged. BCM will replace the unit at our discretion usually within one week. Units requiring repairs may take 6-8 weeks.
Pettersson factory warranty is one year.
D500x External Microphone Return Policy
All microphones are tested by BCM staff before shipping to customers. Please contact BCM first detailing the issue you are having with the Microphone and obtain a Return Authorization. Should email or phone troubleshooting fail to resolve the issue, you should send the unit in suitable packaging to BCM, with the RA number written on the packaging.
DOA microphones are replaced immediately at no charge. There is a $150 for refurbishing used microphones, shipped immediately if in stock.
Electronics purchased from BCM are easily returned within 30 days of receipt of shipment. These items must be in new condition with original packaging and accessories. All bat detectors sold by BCM are supported by the device's manufacturers. In the unlikely event a detector appears to be defective, please contact the customer support network for the computer manufacturer to have it serviced under warranty. Pettersson D500x/M500 devices have specific policies, see above.
Software titles purchased from BCM are easily returned within 30 days of receipt of shipment. These items must be unopened and still in their plastic wrap.
Other items purchased from BCM can only be returned if:
- The return is packaged and shipped in the original packaging.
- The items are still in new condition.
- You ship your return within 30 days of receipt of the original shipment.
Any returns that do not meet the above qualifications may receive a reduced refund or be returned to the purchaser. Some items may incur a restocking fee as these items must be inspected, tested, and repackaged. If a restocking fee applies it will be noted on the product information page. All returns will be less original shipping costs.

Hello - There is a 3 year warranty on defects serviced by the manufacturer. They also provide loaners during servicing. The manufacturer is: https://www.apodemus.eu/field-equipment While we have used both devices, I can't say we have had them on long term projects ro determine survivability. Both devices are weather resistant but are not intended to be completely watertight. To connect with other users there are a few Facebook groups such as bat lures and bat call sound analysis workshop that should have users with real-world experiance.
How much distance can this device cover and does it attract bats to you with the sound?
Bats can likely hear sounds produced by any lure from hundreds of feet away. Note that your bat detector may not pick up the sound from the lure much more than 15' away; that's how much better bats are than our expensive microphones. Be assured that the lure is working properly and bats can hear the speaker much further than our microphones can. Of course all bats are different and some are only interested in the sounds in their immediate surroundings, so your milage will vary depending on species. Wether a certain individual bat actually investigates the speaker/lure depends on what is playing. We are assembling bat calls for this purpose and will make them available soon.
I'm interested in purchasing the BatLure system. Are any other items needed along with the purchase of the BatLure?
Hello- The Apodemus BatLure will need batteries, or an external 12v battery. It does come with a sample of European bat calls. These are great for testing detectors or live demos for the public. Beyond that you'll need your own collection of full spectrum .wav files to play back for whatever you purpose may be. If the .wav files do not play, you may need to strip out the metadata using the SonoBat Data Wizard or another app that removes metadata.
We purchased a bat lure some years ago and have misplaced the manual. How do you access the battery?
Remove the panel to the left of the power button. There is a SD card slot there, and a battery pack. A small string assists in unplugging the battery pack, a small amount of force is necessay, it will not just "drop out". If you can't grip it you might need pliers. Can this attract bats from miles away?
No- hundreds of feet in radious perhaps, certainly not miles. -JC
