Gallery: Bat Detectors and Example Uses

Bat Conservation and Management has been using bat acoustic monitoring devices for our own surveys and teaching others since 2001. Initially intended to only record bats live for a few hours after sunset, they have rapidly evolved into relatively weather-resistant devices that can be placed hundreds of feet in the air and be left monitoring 24/7/365, until the microphone eventually fails. Below are some of the myriad of devices that enthusiasts and researchers commonly use in the US. BCM frequently partners with Bat Survey Solutions helping to provide expertise with their training programs, some of which are depicted here.
