Dave Riggs is part expedition cave mapper, part computer scientist and software engineer, and part cave and karst resource manager. He's been an on-and-off hired gun with BCM for over 15 years, assisting with cave and mine projects, acoustic monitoring, and as workshop staff. He's the author of the GUANO acoustic metadata format, Myotisoft Transect software, and performed hardware service for Pettersson bat detectors. He spent four years working for the National Park Service managing a cave resource inventory and monitoring program including acoustic monitoring, hibernacula surveys, and cave climate science. When he's not underground or on rope, you can find him working on a masters degree at West Virginia University applying geospatial analysis to cave and karst management.
