  • I'm a little confused how these AR150/ AcroBat recievers work. If leaving this out in the field for several nights, is it a stand alone unit that actually records the bats and then you download from the unit later? Or does it need to be plugged into a laptop or something that is protected in the field from the weather while it records? What's the optimum way to set these up in the field and leaving them for a week or so? I'm familar with using Sonobat live with a usb microphone (pettersen 500x mic), and with using the wildlife acoustic SM2 unit paired with a SMX-U1 mic. - thanks, Patrick

All of Binary Acoustic Technologies microphones are USB mics; they either plug into a laptop OR record using a separate recorder such as the IFR-V https://binaryacoustictech.com/batpages_files/iFR_V.htm The AcroBat is a special order mic that only works with the AcroBat software from Binary Acoustics, and so it requires a laptop; that said, check with Binary Acoustics directly as the product capabilities may have changed with updates.
