The best bat banding pliers available. Nothing to wear out or break. Made from Surgical Grade Stainless Steel type 410 to be rust free. Bat bands require a unique tool that accommodates the lip at the ends of the band, evenly crimps the circular space around the band, and leaves a specific gap to accommodate the wing membrane. Therefore, tolerances and measurements must be precise.
These pliers hold an opened band securely and allow the bander to place and crimp the band with minimal effort while minimizing the potential of wing membrane damage caused by an over-crimped band.
Stop crimping bands with fingers alone; this practice can be inconsistent and at worst could injure the bat unnecessarily over time. These pliers will not over-crimp, and crimp perfectly every time with no fuss or muss. Used nationwide by state and federal agency biologists and at Bat Survey Solutions/Bat Conservation and Management workshops. Easy to WNS decon.
Two sizes available for Porzana 2.4mm or larger Porzana 2.9mm bands; one of each should be in your kit!

Hi, can you tell me what the size of the gap in the band is when they are closed using your pliers please? I'm trying to work out if they would be suitable to use with UK bat species. No one over here seems to use pliers like this and I suspect there must be a reason!
These pliers are for Porzana 2.4mm or larger Porzana 2.9mm bands. Any other size band will either under or over-crimp the band.

Do you carry bat band removal tool kit?
No-I would suggest very small needle nose pliers, such as those made for small electronics. While holding the band with this, pry open the band with a fingernail. You might also place a flathead screwdriver between the lips of the band and then turn the blade sideways to initially spread the band. Practice by banding a small twig, etc. and then perfect the technique.

Hi, I'm a biologist with the Fish and Wildlife Service. We might need a good number of these (either or both sizes) over the next few years so I am trying to find a manufacturer that can provide these readily and within a few weeks of an order. What is the typical wait time for shipment and do you have a sizable inventory if we needed >20-30?
We currently have a large supply of both size pliers. It is best to order several months or more before your field season if you need a large quantity as unexpected orders right before field season may cause short supply.
