BatSound Touch

BatSound® Touch is a sound recording and analysis software which provides high-resolution real-time spectrograms and is very easy to use with touch screen Windows tablet PCs. It has resizable text and buttons to facilitate operation on devices with virtually any screen size.

BatSound Touch is compatible with the popular M500 or M500-384 USB microphone. A Windows tablet PC with BatSound Touch and the M500 makes an easy to use and powerful bat detector with real-time audio as well as real-time spectrogram. BatSound Touch can also be used on computers without a touch screen.

Typical workflow would be to use BatSound Touch as the recording app for the M500 microphone (other USB ultrasonic microphones may be used such as Dodotronic, etc.). Site metadata is entered directly into the app and saved with each .wav file. GPS data is automatically saved if available.  For active recording the user may reject undesirable files directly onscreen. If used passively, for example set at a mist net site for a time and trigger thresholds are low, undesirable noise files may be generated which can be removed using the SonoBat Data Wizard. For species suggestions, the data can then be batch processed in SonoBat 4 then manually vetted for species confirmation.

BatSound Touch is also available in a 'Lite' version with limited functionality. This version is available free of charge to M500 owners. Request a copy by emailing a request directly to Pettersson for the latest version!
