The Pettersson D500x can take 6 to 9 volts DC input. Use this harness to connect to deep cycle batteries that accept ring terminals: https://batmanagement.com/collections/batteries-power/products/fused-ring-terminal-harness
The SAE connector firmly connects to our D500x power cord. This setup will not vibrate loose in wind or motion, etc.

Is the external battery pack for D cells still available for the Pettersson D500x unit used for NABat?

I am not sure the solar part of the system works long term as we are starting to have issues with the solar's internal battery after 6 months, however the battery pack portion of the system seems solid. - JC
