  • I operate a business for wildlife damage and conduct bat exclusions. When you speak of a timer. This timer is activated at what time of day/night? Is it cycled on at sundown and off after sunrise?

Hi- the timer we offer as a power supply is controlled by a photocell. It is on at night and turns off during the day, similar to outdoor holiday lighting. One of these power supplies can operate 4 deterrents.

  • About how long does a BD100 last on a 12v car battery?

Weeks or more, likely, especially when rigged with a timer. This can be calculated by the published draw of the deterrent and the actual size/capacity of the battery.

  • I have a large 80 acre vineyard, will your device work in that application or do you have other devices or suggestion of who to contact?

Hello- the BD100 is for insect eating bats, particularly Mexican free tail, big brown bats, and perhaps some myotis. The effective range is about a 15' diameter, so it is unrealistic to use this on a large property. It is intended to aid with very specific locations where physically sealing bats out of a structure is not easily possible.

  • Whats the range of the sound produced? Is it audible to dogs cats or other wildlife?

This device has an -effective- range of about 12' in all directions but strongest just above horizontal. It will be audible to bats and other wildlife that can hear ultrasound at a greater distance. Note this device does not make animals "uncomfortable", it is flooding the space with ultrasound rendering bat's echolocation less effective.

  • It would seem I would need an electrician to install this...please advise. I have two dogs. The unit would be placed on the back porch. The dogs are outside during the day when the unit will be off, but are taken out for nightly needs for a short period after dark. Any problem for the dogs? Also, I will get one unit for the back porch first, and if it is effective, then I will order a second unit for the front porch.

Hello- An electriction is not needed, the power supply is a dusk-to-dawn outdoor timer intended for low voltage lighting, such as holiday lights, etc. The timer power supply has terminals for bare wires; simply set the wires with a small screwdriver. Up to 4 deterrants can be used on the power supply listed.

Dogs will be able to hear the deterrant. Short exposure to it shouldn't be an issue to them, especially if they are not next to it. These deterrants are only intended for non-living space in buildings and outbuildings, where people and non-target animals would be constantly. However, a tack room in a barn is perfectly fine, as the walls of the room shield the rest of the barn from the ultrasound, so it is safe for horses, etc. in that situation.
