What states does sales tax apply?
If you live in PA, you will be charged sales tax according to your state’s sales tax rules. Tax Exempt Businesses/Organizations in PA only: contact us to place your order (717-241-2228). Please have your tax exempt number.
What can I return?
You may return new, unopened items sold within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. Shirts, hats, and mugs are made to order and are not returnable.
When will I get my refund?
Most refunds are fully refunded in 3-5 business days after we receive and process your return.
Does BCM do replacements?
We can only replace the exact item and version you ordered, and you are responsible to return the damaged item within 30 days. If you want to exchange for a different item, you will need to return the item and place a new order.
Pettersson D500x and M500 Bat Detectors Return and Exchange Policy
All detectors are tested by BCM staff before shipping to customers. Please contact BCM first detailing the issue you are having with the hardware and obtain a Return Authorization. Should email or phone troubleshooting fail to resolve the issue, you should send the unit in suitable packaging to BCM, with the RA number written on the packaging.
BCM will confirm the unit is defective was not abused or water damaged. BCM will replace the unit at our discretion usually within one week. Units requiring repairs may take 6-8 weeks.
Pettersson factory warranty is one year.
D500x External Microphone Return Policy
All microphones are tested by BCM staff before shipping to customers. Please contact BCM first detailing the issue you are having with the Microphone and obtain a Return Authorization. Should email or phone troubleshooting fail to resolve the issue, you should send the unit in suitable packaging to BCM, with the RA number written on the packaging.
DOA microphones are replaced immediately at no charge. There is a $150 for refurbishing used microphones, shipped immediately if in stock.
Electronics purchased from BCM are easily returned within 30 days of receipt of shipment. These items must be in new condition with original packaging and accessories. All bat detectors sold by BCM are supported by the device's manufacturers. In the unlikely event a detector appears to be defective, please contact the customer support network for the computer manufacturer to have it serviced under warranty. Pettersson D500x/M500 devices have specific policies, see above.
Software titles purchased from BCM are easily returned within 30 days of receipt of shipment. These items must be unopened and still in their plastic wrap.
Other items purchased from BCM can only be returned if:
- The return is packaged and shipped in the original packaging.
- The items are still in new condition.
- You ship your return within 30 days of receipt of the original shipment.
Any returns that do not meet the above qualifications may receive a reduced refund or be returned to the purchaser. Some items may incur a restocking fee as these items must be inspected, tested, and repackaged. If a restocking fee applies it will be noted on the product information page. All returns will be less original shipping costs.

When I am in the field collecting data via SonoBat Live, it can automatically name the file; some files are named: “assesasHilo 20180728_213107”, “Hilo2/22”, etc.; another files are named as “indefinite_20180728_214318”; so my question is: what mean those names: “assesasHilo…”; “Hilo...”, “Hilo2/2…”, and “indefinite…”?
HiLo may refer to a recording that contains both high frequency and low frequency call pulses in it (the cutoff between High and Low generally being about 35 kHz. ) Seeing both reported may be an indication that the software sees both in the recording. Sometimes a bat may be doing a behavior that crosses into both frequency ranges like this. However, more often it is an indication that there are multiple bats in a single recording, both a High frequency and low frequency animal. The 2/22 means out of 22 pulses that were considered for classification, 2 pulses could be identified at the current confidence threshold setting. “indefinite” results are even weaker than a simple High or Low F decision. Indefinate usually means the quality of the recording is so bad, the signals contained do not rise to the level that SonoBat considers to be useful for measuring or contributing to a classification. If the automated system cannot find enough signal to determine even if it is a HF or LF recording, it will report “indefinite”.
Tell me the proper specs I\'ll need for my new SurfacePro laptop to be able to run SB4 (& SB4 Live)?
For LIVE, use at least a surface pro 4, i7 processor, 4 gb ram, 1.5 ghz speed processor is minimum, anything more will be better. If you are going to be using it yourself, get more ram and faster speed as much as u can afford with speed being the priority. Requires windows 10. We are testing using a surface me device which is smaller screen.
For the SonoBat Viewer (the main analysis app) really any 64 bit Win 10 computer will work.
I currently have an Echo Meter Touch microphone and am ready to upgrade. I am thinking of purchasing Sonobat LIVE for now with the plan to buy a compatible microphone when my budget permits. In the meantime, can I run calls recorded with the EMT through Sonobat LIVE?
SonoBatLIVE is a recording app; you cannot point it to a directory of prerecorded files for analysis. You can do that with the full SonoBat North America app using the SonoBatch tool. If you purchase the entire $1500 SonoBat package you get SonoBatLIVE and the full NA package. As far as we know the Echometer only works with Wildlife Acoustics recording app; it's microphone isn't supported by SonoBatLIVE at this time. SonoBatLIVE works with the Pettersson M500, most of the mics from Binary Acoustic Technologies, and soon a few other European mics.
