Bat House Installation
QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk BCM a Question
Hello, we are interested in purchasing a bat house from your company and also potentially in having it installed. We live approximately 120 miles from Carlisle, PA in Manassas, VA. Would we be able to get installation services from BCM given that we are just outside the 100 mile radius? If not, are there any companies in our area that you would recommend for installation? We would like to get professional advice as to the best position on our property to install our house. Thank you for your help.
Hello- we will install bat houses at your location no problem. Ideally you want a location that receives all day direct sunlight if possible, or at least 6 hours or more of morning sun. Feel free to request a quote for installation email firstname.lastname@example.org
Hi -- I am in Allentown, PA. I am sure I have bats near my house. Years ago, I got a bat house (hanging on my front porch, where I see bats), but I've never seen a bat in it. It could be a bad design AND/OR a bad location. I would love to have some working bat houses on my property, whether attached to the house, or on poles. I know there are different kinds of bats, so that also might be a variable in what kind of success rate there is. If there is a good chance of helping bats, I'd be willing to try it.
See our resources on bat houses here: https://batmanagement.com/blogs/bat-roosts as one article specifically deals with why bat houses fail. You might be able to refurbish the one you have (caulk around the roof, paint it black, rehang in a very sunny location, scratch up the landing pad and any baffles you can reach).
The Super Rocket Roost https://batmanagement.com/products/bcm-super-rocket-roost
and the Universal 4 Chamber https://batmanagement.com/products/universal-four-chamber-premium-bat-house both have a variety of crevice types that would be attractive to big brown and little brown bats in your area. Either should be placed in full all day sun in your area if possible.
