Lava Land

California 2008. Who knew that bat trapping alongside miles of non-descript radish fields would be so productive? When our whirlwind workshop ended, we had caught nearly every bat species in northern CA, thanks much to the unique lava cave topography covering Lava Beds National Monument and a few good ice caves that are the only source of water for miles. On a technical note, the stills at the end of the of the movie are images made using a technique called HDR photography.
